This notice sets out
information on how House of Immigration L Lawyers LLP (trading as House
of Immigration) collect and process your personal data.
How
we collect data
As data controllers, House of
Immigration collect, process and store personal information that is
provided to us. We collect data in a number of ways, primarily through
the provision of legal services to you and where we have your consent,
from sources such as medical institutions and the Home Office.
We may retain information in
other circumstances for example when you contact us, we may keep
records of the correspondence, and information may be obtained from
third parties such as clients or other law firms.
Our services are not aimed at
children, as where children are involved, we are instructed by
parents/guardians representing the child.
Types
of data held
The type of data that we hold fall into two broad categories as set out
below:
- Personal
data – i.e ,name, date of birth, nationality, contact details etc
- Sensitive
data – i.e religion, political orientation, biometric data, medical
information etc.
Sources
of information
We obtain information about you primarily directly from you in the
process of providing services to you. Other sources include but are not
limited to;
- Third
parties so that we can undertake legal work upon your instruction such
as medical or financial institutions.
- Family/friends
who provide the information with your consent.

of personal information
We collect, process and retain information about you for the following

Your personal information is primarily used within house of immigration
however there may be other instances where your personal data needs to
be disclosed to a third party. Examples are listed below although this
is not an exhaustive list:

- Solicitors acting on the other
side
- Other legal professionals such
as counsel representing you in court or preparing grounds/advice for
your case
- Non-legal experts for advice or
assistance i.e. clerks
- Regulatory bodies such as the
SRA
- External auditors and
accountants
Use
of personal information
We have taken reasonable steps to ensure that your data is protected
from;
- Unauthorised
modification
Some of the steps include but
are not limited to ensuring an organised system is in place to document
where the information is at all times, securing IT systems and ensuring
there are logins and passwords for all electronically held data.
All third party providers with
access to confidential information are bound by confidentiality
obligations.
Transmission of information via
the internet is not completely secure and any transmission made over
the internet and via email is at your own risk.
Storage
of personal information
Personal information is stored
both electronically and on physical files. It is kept for as long as it
is required by law or to for fulfilment of its purpose. For example
wills will be kept indefinitely, although standard files are usually
kept for a minimum of 6 years before being destroyed without further
notice or liability.
All data/personal information
is stored in the United Kingdom. No personal data is stored outside the
EEA.
We currently do not store any
information for marketing purposes.
What are your rights?
Under the data protection laws
you have rights in some circumstances, namely the right to access,
correct or erase your personal data. The right to object or restrict
the processing of your data, the right to have your personal data
transferred and the right to withdraw consent. For further information
